The first domesticated animals arrived 5000 years ago with Neolithic farmers. The feral goats in Scotland are descendants of those eariler animals, but are now truly wild. These hairy, long-horned beasts probably originate from abandoned livestock during the Highland Clearances and now serve as a reminder of the region's turbulent past.
