With their striking summer plumage, cherry-red eyes and marmalade ear-tufts, the Slavonian grebe is a  spectacular bird in summer plumage with an endearing nature. They are rare breeders restricted to a handful of small, well-vegetated lochs in the Scottish Highlands.
